My name is Tiffany Vakilian and I am the owner and CEO of Speak Fire Publishing.
Tell us more about your business.
What I do is I take writers, or would be writers, from concept all the way to published book. So if you need coaching, editing, formatting, cover design, everything from start to finish, I'm here to either walk you through it or point you in the right direction.
What inspired you to become a business owner?
I think it was just the freedom of being able to hear and tell the stories that I've heard throughout my life. There are some powerful women and men, and others, moving around in this world and I just thought it was really important for us to speak our stories, tell the truth and to be able to have books that say 'We told this!'.
What challenges have you faced as a woman in business?
One of the challenges that I think is really huge is that natural inclination that a lot of people have to discount my voice because I am a woman, or discount my voice because they don't know my industry that way I do. I've been doing this for easily over a decade, pushing 15 years, and I think and feel that when people just trust me to do what I know to do, everyone seems to be better off.
What advice would you give to other women entrepreneurs?
I think the advice I would love to resonate with other women business owners is that there is a time for council and council is important. There's also a time where you have got to have faith in yourself, listen to your voice inside of you, set it on fire, and let it burn your pathway.
