California State University San Marcos

Building on an innovative 25-year history, California State University San Marcos is a forward-focused institution, dedicated to preparing future leaders, building great communities and solving critical issues. Located on a 304-acre hillside overlooking the city of San Marcos, the University is just a short distance from some of Southern California’s best beaches and an hour from the US-Mexico border. CSUSM enrollment is over 15,000 and the university is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. See more.


 Palomar College

Palomar College is a public two-year community college. The Palomar campus is located in San Marcos, California, approximately 30 miles north of San Diego. Palomar enrolls approximately 30,000 full-time and part-time students. Residents of California are charged only $46 per unit. At Palomar, students may choose from over 200 associate degree and certificate programs, complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree, or enjoy personal enrichment classes for lifelong learning. Mira Costa College

The MiraCosta Community College District is located in San Diego County along the Southern California coast, between Orange County to the north and the metropolitan area of San Diego to the south. The Oceanside Campus moved to its 121.5-acre site in 1964 and houses a comprehensive public community college offering credit, fee-based, and noncredit courses. In the 2013 academic year, the college offered general education credit courses that applied toward 64 degrees, 46 Certificates of Proficiency and 58 Certificates of Achievement. Some noncredit classes and community services courses are also offered on this campus. Approximately 10,500 students, the majority of the district’s students, attend the Oceanside Campus. See more.

 Vista Unified School District

With 29 schools serving nearly 22,000 students from preschool to 12th grade, Vista Unified School District is one of northern San Diego County’s largest educational agencies. The district stretches 39 square miles across most of Vista, a large portion of eastern Oceanside, some unincorporated areas and small slivers of Carlsbad and San Marcos. Vista Unified also includes one of the county’s largest adult-education programs with approximately 20,000 students enrolled each year. Schools include, 16 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 3 comprehensive high schools, 2 alternative high schools, 2 schools for students with special needs, 1  blended learning/independent study middle/high school, 5 independent charter schools, 1 adult school.
