How to do Business in the County of San Diego- Vista Library @ Vista Library
Sep 5 all-day

Hi Vista Chamber,

We have an opportunity for local businesses to learn about how to do get contracts with the County of San Diego. The County Department of Purchasing and Contracting will be here at the library on Friday, September 5th from 10:00-11:00am to give a workshop to local businesses. I’ve attached a flyer. Could you help spread the word to other Chamber members who may have an interest in attending? Maybe add it to your calendar or facebook page? Any help would be appreciated. Here’s the description of the event:
This workshop is for local businesses, small businesses, and businesses of all types.
The program will cover subjects such as registering to do business with the County
on our “BuyNet” web site, bid and proposal processes, terminology,
rules and regulations, and how to find business opportunities with
the County of San Diego. No workshop registration is required.

Escondido Sunrise Rotary’s 4th Annual Grape Day 5k- Support The National MS Society @ Downtown Escondido
Sep 6 – Sep 7 all-day

– The Escondido Sunrise Rotary Club (ESR) announced today that the

4th Annual Grape Day 5k will take place Saturday, September 6, 2014 in downtown Escondido. The group also announced that, for the first time, a substantial portion of the net proceeds will be donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as well as other causes supported by ESR. The National MS Society provides funding for research and programs and services for people with MS.

MS is a chronic, unpredictable and disabling neurological disease of the central nervous system with no known cause, cure or prevention. It is the most common neurological disease affecting young‑ to middle‑aged adults. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50. More than twice as many women as men have MS. Symptoms cannot be predicted and can vary greatly, ranging from numbness in the limbs and extreme fatigue to loss of balance and muscle coordination or paralysis.

The Grape Day 5k will commence at 7:30 a.m., beginning and ending at the Chase Bank on the corner of West Grand and Orange. Medals will be awarded to the top male and female finishers overall and within various age categories. Additionally, all runners are eligible to win raffle prizes valued at up to $100 each. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Those who register before July 31st will receive a $5.00 Early Bird discount off their registration fee. Onsite registration is available at http://sandyfeetevents.com/grape-day-5k/.

The Grape Day 5k kicks off Escondido’s Grape Day Celebration, an annual event celebrating the city’s history, especially the late 19th century, when thousands of acres of vineyards dominated the landscape. The race is immediately followed by a Parade along Grand Avenue and a Festival in Grape Day Park featuring live entertainment, children’s activities, grape stomping, food trucks and fun for the entire family.

“The Grape Day 5K is quickly becoming a premiere event,” said Jim Ponder, ESR member and Grape Day 5k Run Co-chairman. Escondido Sunrise Rotary is proud to support the National MS Society and our community. We encourage people of every age and ability to come join the fun and support great causes!”
